I am one of those unlucky people who just cannot get their nails to grow. They just flake and crack and are just about as thin as a sheet of paper.
Working at a cosmetics counter would seem like the ideal job to be able to let my nails grow long and strong, but do not be fooled! This girl always get her nails in on all the box-opening, sticker removing, acetone cleaning action!
Safe to say I tried all the products advertised in fashion magazines and on the television. And like all beauty lovers, I have collected quite an extravagant amount of nail hardeners and growth polishes but none of them were saving my nails.
And that's when I was introduced to Vitry Nail Repair Treatment!
The Breakdown:
This is meant to be used as two week treatment. Basically all you need to do is to apply it once a day, and remove it and reapply every three days, for two weeks.
If you are like me, having transparent nails for two weeks may be a challenge. The treatment can also be used under nail polish and be reapplied at every new manicure for added strength.
The Pros:
Here are my results after 6 days
(Note that my nails go through a lot of damage every day, that this is my writing hand, and that I shape my nails to be pointy)
My nails were immediately hard as rocks and were no longer flaking. They started to grow after two days and are stronger and stronger.
The Cons:
Although this product is a miracle worker, it does come with some particularities.
Vitry contains formaldehyde, which is not only quite drying, but also painful if it gets onto the skin. I have learned the hard way that if you touch the skin around your nails with the polish, your fingers will burn like the flame of one thousand suns.
Also, in order to prevent breaking if too much pressure is applied on the now hard nails, you need to moisturize every day. Although this should already be part of your daily routine, I tend to skip a day, or seven.
Vitry also comes with a hefty price tag. 19.95 might sound ridiculous when there are 8$ treatments all around.
My Thoughts:
I don't care how many fingers I lose. I will always repurchase this product. Although it's rather expensive; I don't need to use it every time I do a manicure and it has lasted me 6 months and I still have 1/3rd left.
I also don't enjoy having to be so careful while putting this product on, but I do it for my nail color, so it's not that much of a big deal in the end.

I purchased this product with my own money
I have a really stupid question. I just applied two coats of this, and I believe it pooled near the sides of my cuticles from where i applied too liberally and have curved nails. Will the burning sensation die down/go away after a while? Or do I have to take off the polish and reapply?
ReplyDeleteThe burning sensation will eventually go away, even though it can take a while
